About Skeleton Key

The brother-sister-husband team of Skeleton Key founded it as a brewery incubator, an immersive experience for new brewers to get hands-on experience running a brewery and tap room. John Szopa, Emily Slayton, and Paul Slayton are Lombard natives with 20 years of homebrewing experience and a passion for great craft beer. They specialize in brewing classic styles with a twist, experimenting with different yeast strains and natural adjuncts, often as variations of our established recipes. Examples include their Trouble Won’t Trouble You black IPA infused with chanterelle mushrooms, Saudade Belgian wit with chrysanthemum and sage on tart cherries, and a Mexican hot cocoa version of porter.
