Author Eleanor Porter wrote the novel Pollyanna in 1913, about an orphan girl who holds an unflinchingly optimistic view of the world. True to its namesake, Lemont-based Pollyanna looks at beer with the same rose-colored hue—much like its popular Summerly raspberry wheat ale. The brewery's slogan is "Crafted Optimism."
The names of all of Pollyanna's beers have a literary reference, such as Em Dash Equinox hopped saison, Lexical Gap IPA, and of course, Eleanor porter.
Pollyanna's Fruhauf Oktoberfest-style beer earned a bronze medal at the 2016 Great American Beer Fest.
