Author and Villa Park native Jeanette Hurt will visit Red Arrow Tap Room to sign copies of her newest book, Drink Like a Woman, a celebration of the important role women have played in America's storied brewing and distilling history. The book is chock full of cocktail recipes, including several that feature craft beer and cider.
We'll be demonstrating and serving two mixed drinks from Jeanette's book: the Gloria Stein'Em, a beer and lemonade shandy, and the Curie Royale, which combines cider with raspberry liqueur. Additionally, the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board is providing an assortment of delicious Wisconsin cheeses and gourmet crackers to sample.
Drink Like a Woman highlights a collection of cocktails as varied as the women they celebrate, drinks that are bold, spicy, sweet, tart, smooth, refreshing, subtle, and complex... but never "girly." It's time to acknowledge that women's taste in alcohol, just like their contribution to history, is anything but predictable.
Jeanette is the award-winning writer and author of eight culinary and drink books. A full-time journalist, Jeanette has written for dozens of publications, including Wine Enthusiast, Entrepreneur.com, Esquire.com.
